MRV Equipment Now Available To Texas Government Agencies Through Go Direct Program October 5th, 2009 Partnership with Mercury Networks Establishes Government Price List for Expedited Network Building CHATSWORTH, CA – Oct. 5, 2009 – MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced that its partner Mercury Networks has been awarded a contract with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) that allows the entire MRV product line to be made available through the Go DIRect program. MRV is a leading networking company with a full line of packet-optical transport (POTS), carrier Ethernet, 40G networking and out-of-band networking products. The DIR Go DIRect program allows state agencies, cities, counties, public school districts and universities to acquire hardware, software and other Information technology products and services easily and quickly. According to Texas Government Code, Section 2054.0565 (b), MRV has met the competitive bid requirements, thus the program eliminates the need for agencies to follow the competitive bidding process. This streamlines the entire order process so customers can receive their network equipment in a timely manner. Mercury Networks, Inc. is a full-service network products distributor based in Houston. Founded in 1996 by Patrick Mattos, Mercury Networks is focused on building networks for businesses that depend upon the Internet. The company provides networking and network security products and knowledge to small, medium and large organizations and specializes in free space optics (FSO). With the Mercury Network’s contract, MRV’s entire line of networking solutions is available through the Go DIRect program. The MRV product line includes POTS, carrier Ethernet and out-of-band solutions, to name a few. Of particular interest to the government agencies will be MRV’s LX Series that includes FIPS 140-2 certified out-of-band console servers. “Our customers will appreciate the GoDIRect program because it allows them to stay ahead of the competition by accessing the products they need immediately without going through a lengthy bidding process,” said Noam Lotan, president and CEO of MRV Communications. “As an MRV partner for more than 20 years, I know the benefits that the company's products deliver. With the ability to deliver these networks in a streamlined bidding process, Texas agencies will be able to improve their networks cost effectively,” said Patrick Mattos, founder of Mercury Networks. MRV has already demonstrated its success in Texas with the Mesquite Independent School District who chose to implement its OptiSwitch 304 optical termination units. By implementing the MRV solution, the school district is able to cost-effectively manage its network expansion and migration away from expensive leased fiber-optic network services. GO DIRect certification means government agencies in other states can also buy MRV products at the negotiated prices. MRV’s products are now available for purchase through the Go DIRect program.
